Cecilia Campos
Cecilia Campos Merino was born in La Paz, Bolivia. She graduated from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres (University of San Andres) in 1989 with a degree in architecture. In 1996, she graduated as a visual artist from the Superior School of Fine Arts in La Paz. In 2002, she and her husband decided to reside in the United States, where they both received artistic commissions. Over the years, her paintings have depicted various themes, such as trees, butterflies, Illimani (Andean snow), and horses.
From 2007 to 2012, she created a series of 3D pyramids painted in mixed media with the recurring theme of nature and its four elements. To represent environmental deterioration, she incorporated symbols such as dead leaves, seeds, fish, and butterfly wings that fall apart. In 2017, she began a series of vases called "Ephemeral," which convey a message about protecting life on our planet.
Her work is housed in private collections in Bolivia, the United States, Canada, Denmark, and Hong Kong.
